Question 1

How much does a new driveway cost in Essex County, NJ?

Accepted Answer

In 2026, asphalt driveways in Essex County typically run $5 to $9 per square foot installed, concrete $8 to $15, and pavers $20 to $45. A standard two-car asphalt driveway of 500 to 600 square feet usually lands between $3,000 and $5,500. Removing an old surface adds about $1 to $2 per square foot. Every estimate is free and done on site.

Question 2

Yes. Roca & Associates Construction LLC is fully licensed and insured in New Jersey. We provide a certificate of insurance on request before any work begins, for homeowners, property managers and general contractors.

Question 4

How long does a driveway or patio take to install?

Accepted Answer

A typical two-car asphalt driveway replacement takes one to two days, weather permitting, and can carry light traffic after 24 to 48 hours. Concrete needs about seven days of curing before you drive on it. Paver patios usually take two to four days depending on size and site access.

Question 5

Do I need a permit for a driveway or patio?

Accepted Answer

Work that touches the public right-of-way, such as a driveway apron or curb cut, usually needs a permit from your town DPW. We handle the permit paperwork and build to municipal spec so the inspection passes the first time.

Question 6

When is the best time of year to pave in New Jersey?

Accepted Answer

Late April through October is the paving season in Essex County. Hot-mix asphalt needs air and ground temperatures above roughly 50°F to compact properly, and concrete needs similar conditions to cure. Spring and early fall offer the best mix of weather and scheduling availability.
